New faces on board at RTI

December 15, 2020

The Pennsylvania-based software company welcomes two new members to the engineering team.

Stephanie Lakin

RTI’s engineering team is excited to welcome Stephanie Lakin as a software engineer based in Medina, Ohio. Stephanie works with the agile development team on RTI’s visibility software and mobile apps.

“Just watching what has been developed since I started, I can’t believe how much the application has grown in such a short time. It’s the drive, ambition, and passion of everyone that’s been very exciting for me,” Stephanie shared when asked about her new role.

Stephanie has experience in Angular, C#, .Net Core, Xamarin-forms, Git & Azure Dev Ops, VS Code, React.js, Material UI, WebdriverIo, Mocha & Chai automation, BitBucket, and Jira, to name a few. As a lifelong learner, she has never stopped learning after receiving her web application development degree. She is currently finishing a BA in Graphic Design and Media Arts with a concentration in web design from Southern New Hampshire University.

After hours, Stephanie can be found doing Tae Kwon Do or learning Amateur Radio Operation (HAM). Her goal is to “get involved with CERT, or a community response team for my local area in case of a natural disaster.” She believes that “life is about moving forward and constantly developing yourself as a human being.” She doesn’t like to stagnate and firmly believes in “never giving up.”

Jacob Kizzee

Jacob Kizzee, a former consultant for the RTI team, jumps all in as a senior software engineer based in Greenville, South Carolina.

What excites Jacob about working at RTI the most is “the diverse nature of the programmers on our team. We have a wide range of experience levels which is a great balance.” The new guys challenge the senior ones with new ways of doing things, and the experienced ones teach the new ones their tested techniques. The ability to have diverse skillsets but all speak the same language is excellent.”

Jacob is an experienced full-stack software engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the computer software industry. He earned his bachelor’s degree focused in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. Jacob also brings a strong manufacturing background to the engineering team with experience working at Magna International and Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, where he worked on Manufacturing Process Improvements.

“My background on the manufacturing floor helps me in my day-to-day role at RTI. I’ve been on that forklift pulling stuff from a truck, moving it to storage – having that physical experience influences my relationships with customers and helps me troubleshoot problems on the manufacturing floor.”

When he’s not focused on development and designing system architecture, he loves spending time with his family of seven on their small farm, raising chickens, rabbits, and goats.
